The Holy Spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Third Person of the Triune Godhead, that He is ever present and efficiently active in and with the Church of Christ, convincing the world of sin, regenerating those who repent and believe, sanctifying believers, and guiding into all truth as it is in Jesus.

The Holy Spirit is how we experience God. Jesus was only on earth for a specific amount of time, during which time none of us lived. Sometimes we think it would be easier to be a Christian, to believe in God, if we could see Jesus face-to-face. Maybe, maybe not. Nevertheless, Jesus promised that we would not be left alone, without access to God. He told us that the Father promised to send the Holy Spirit to be with us and comfort us. “I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate . . . the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name” (John 14:16, 26).

“If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever – the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. – John 14:15-18
