Resurrection, Judgment and Destiny
We believe in the resurrection of the dead, that the bodies both of the just and of the unjust shall be raised to life and united with their spirits – “they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation” [John 5:29, KJV].
We believe in future judgment in which every person shall appear before God to be judged according to his or her deeds in this life.
We believe that glorious and everlasting life is assured to all who savingly believe in, and obediently follow, Jesus Christ our Lord; and that the finally impenitent shall suffer eternally in hell.
When Jesus returns at the end of time as we now know it, all that is wrong will be set right. The prophets preached this message about the Messiah in Old Testament days. Jesus preached the same message throughout his ministry on earth. And it is the promise recorded in John’s vision
in the book of Revelation: Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying,
“See, the home of God is among mortals. He will dwell with them; they will be his peoples, and God himself will be with them; he will wipe every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; mourning and crying and pain will be no more, for the first things have passed away.” And the one who was seated on the throne said, “See, I am making all things new.” (21:1-5)
